Reiki and Seichim Training

For all perspective students, it is important to know the Reiki lineage of the Reiki Master Teacher who will be instructing and attuning you to Reiki. Reiki lineage is important because it shows the origin of the Reiki energy that is passed on from generation to generation from Master Teacher to Student. It also provides a source of continuity and connectedness, and authenticates and validates the honored Reiki heritage that one has inherited. Beginning with Sensei Mikao Usui, who rediscovered Reiki in the early 1920's on Mount Kurama in Kyoto,  Japan, my Reiki lineage reveals my connection to the Reiki Master Teachers who came before me and highlights the purity of its source. When you complete your Master training and attunements to Reiki, you will be the eighth successive generation of Reiki Masters.

What is Reiki?

 Reiki is spiritual, universal life force energy for physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wholeness. It offers loving and supportive energy for deep relaxation, stress reduction, specific personal intentions or goals, recovery from illness or surgeries, release of addictive patterns and self-sabotaging behaviors, removal of negative karmic energy, and wholeness in all dimensions and aspects of life.

Who can become a Reiki Practitioner?

Becoming a Reiki practitioner is for those who are interested in natural healing modalities and feel a call to be a healing agent  for the well-being of the self, others, and the world. Because Reiki is not a religion, anyone of any religion or no religion may become a Reiki practitioner. Reiki provides techniques that helps the practitioner to focus on channeling spiritual, healing energy to a person's physical body and the energetic bodies (the auric field that is composed of many layers and surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body). For religious ministers in the Christian faith, Reiki provides a framework in which to employ the biblical "laying on of hands" ministry. I offer Reiki training in three levels. Usui Reiki Level One or Beginner's Level- Shoden (初伝) 

Usui Reiki Level One training is the first step in the journey towards becoming a Reiki practitioner. This training is designed for those who are new to Reiki or who want to deepen their understanding of this ancient healing modality.

During the Level One training, you will learn the history of Reiki, the principles of Reiki, and the hand positions for self-treatment and treatment of others. You will also receive the Level One attunement, which is a sacred and transformative experience that connects you to the universal life force energy and enables you to channel Reiki energy.

The Level One attunement is a spiritual ceremony performed by a Reiki Master that opens your energy channels and aligns your energy with the Reiki energy. This attunement process allows you to become a clear and open channel for Reiki energy to flow through you and into others.

​

Following the attunement, it is recommended to go through a 21-day cleanse, where you commit to practicing Reiki daily and focusing on your personal growth and healing. This cleanse is a time for reflection, self-care, and allowing the Reiki energy to integrate fully into your being.

The benefits of Level One training, and attunement include increased energy, reduced stress and anxiety, improved mental clarity, and an overall sense of well-being. You will also have the skills and tools to practice Reiki on yourself and others, promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

All training levels include a distant Reiki session the day prior to the attunement by the Reiki Master/Teacher, a manual, Reiki attunement, certificate, another distant Reiki session the day following the attunement, and continued Reiki support.

Usui Reiki Level Two- Okuden (奥伝) - Practitioner Level

 

Usui Reiki Level Two Training is the next step in your journey to becoming a Reiki practitioner. This training builds on the foundational concepts and techniques learned in Level One and takes your healing abilities to the next level. At this level, you may establish your own Reiki practice.

During this training, you will receive the second level of attunement, which further enhances your ability to channel Reiki energy. You will also learn the sacred symbols of Usui Reiki and how to use them to enhance the power and focus of your healing work. The symbols enable you to connect with the universal energy in a deeper and more profound way, which helps you to address mental and emotional issues that may be blocking your energy flow.

In addition, Level Two training will teach you how to perform distant or absentee Reiki healing. This technique allows you to send healing energy to someone who is not physically present, which is especially useful for clients who live far away or are unable to come to your location for a session. You will also learn how to perform Reiki on animals and plants, expanding the scope of your healing practice.

At the end of the training, you will receive a certificate of completion and will be considered a Level Two practitioner, capable of using the symbols and techniques you learned to heal yourself and others on a deeper level.

Usui Reiki Level Two Training is ideal for those who want to continue their personal healing journey and deepen their understanding and practice of Reiki. It is also suitable for those who are interested in pursuing a career in energy healing or those who wish to integrate Reiki into their existing healing practice.

Overall, Usui Reiki Level Two Training is a transformative experience that empowers you to expand your healing potential and make a positive impact on the lives of others. You will also learn how to establish your own healing practice.

Master Level 3a -Shinpiden (神秘伝)**

 

Usui Reiki Level 3, also known as the Master level (Shinpiden), is the highest level of the Usui Reiki training program. This level of training is designed for those who have completed Levels One and Two and wish to deepen their understanding and practice of Reiki even further.

At the Master level, you will receive the third and final level of attunement and will learn the Master symbol, which further enhances your ability to channel Reiki energy. You will also learn advanced Reiki techniques and practices, including how to use Reiki to heal past traumas and emotional wounds, how to perform aura clearing and chakra balancing, and how to work with spirit guides and angels in your healing practice. You will also be given an overview of other natural healing modalities that you may incorporate into your healing sessions, if you are already not doing so.

In addition, the Master Level emphasizes the spiritual aspects of Reiki, including the Five Reiki Principles and the connection between Reiki and personal growth and transformation.

For those who wish to teach Reiki to others, the Master Level training also includes teacher training.

Master/Teacher Level 3b (some say level 4) - Gokuikaiden (極意皆伝)

In the Master/Teacher training, you will learn how to give attunements to others and will practice giving attunements at all levels. Reiki attunements are a powerful and sacred ceremony that initiates students into the world of Reiki. At teacher level, you will also learn how to create lesson plans, lead meditations and group healing sessions, and effectively communicate the principles and practices of Reiki to others.

At the end of the Master level training, you will receive a certificate of completion and will be considered a Reiki Master. This training prepares you to teach and attune others to the practice of Reiki, or simply deepen your own practice and understanding of this powerful healing modality.

Usui Reiki Level 3, Master level, is ideal for those who wish to deepen their spiritual practice and expand their healing potential, as well as those who wish to become Reiki teachers and share this transformative practice with others.

*Level three is broken down into levels 3a and 3b because not all students will want to teach Reiki; some will want to learn the extra empowerment that the Master Level will bring. Some Reiki teachers refer to level 3b as level 4- as noted above. I am using the language my Reiki master used in describing the Master/Teacher levels.

What to do prior to Reiki training or Reiki Attunement?

A process of purification is recommended prior to a Reiki attunement. This will allow the attunement energies to work more efficiently and create greater benefits for you. The following detox plan is recommended but is not required.
 
1. Refrain from eating any meat for three days prior to the attunement. Many types of meat often contain antibiotics, added hormones, and toxins in the form of pesticides and heavy metals that may make your system sluggish and throw it out of balance. 
2. Consider a water or juice fast for one to three days, especially if you already are a vegetarian or have experience with fasting.

3. Minimize or eliminate use of coffee and caffeine drinks. They create imbalances in the nervous and endocrine systems. Avoid caffeine drinks on the day of the attunement.
4. Avoid alcohol for at least three days prior to the attunement

5. Minimize or avoid sugary foods, chocolate, and processed foods. 

6. If you smoke, cut back, and smoke as little as possible on the day of the attunement. 

7. Meditate an hour a day for a least a week using a style you are familiar with or simply spend this time in silence. 

8. Reduce or eliminate time watching TV, listening to the radio, and reading newspapers.

9. Go for quiet walks, spend time with nature, and get moderate exercise. 

10. Tune into your body and how you feel.

11. Release all anger, fear, jealousy, hate, worry, and negative emotions up to the light. Create a sacred space within and around you. 
12. While Reiki is not a religion, practitioners often view it as a spiritual practice because Reiki is perceived by many to be a spiritual energy that comes from the Universe/God/Source/Higher-Self/Spirit or whatever name one may use to describe the All that Is. It is advisable to prepare spiritually with prayer and be open to higher spiritual energies and experiences.
 

What is the attunement process like?

Each level is consists of an attunement whereby the Reiki energy is transmitted to the student through the Reiki Master Teacher via a ritual or ceremony. The students are guided to meditate, seated in a comfortable position, while the Reiki master attuned them, through the use of symbols and gentle touching of the hands and head. The attunement is sealed with a final blessing and students remain seated, experiencing the Reiki energy until they feel like it is settled within them.  The attunement is considered to be a spiritual experience that each student may experience differently. Some may notice increase in intuition, mystical experiences, visions, healing, a warmth in the hands, or other sensations. William Rand describes what happens in the attunement in the following way.

During the attunement, the Reiki or spiritual consciousness makes adjustments in the student's chakras and energy pathways and also in deeper parts of one's consciousness to accommodate the ability to channel Reiki energy; it then links the student to the Reiki source. These changes are unique for each person. The Reiki Master . . . is a channel for the attunement energy flowing from spiritual consciousness (Rand, Reiki: The Healing Touch, 5).

Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Yes. Some people, in the days or weeks following an attunement, may have what some practitioners call a "healing crisis." That is due to the influx of Reiki energy that releases energetic blockages as it settles into the body; the body goes through a detoxification process. Symptoms may vary among individuals. Some people do not experience any detox symptoms at all. Some reported symptoms one may experience are dizziness, increased heart rate and respiration, chills, flu-like symptoms, and suppressed emotions rising to the surface. I take measures to reduce the severity of any potential healing crisis by sending distant Reiki the evening prior to the attunement. After an attunement, instructions will be given on how to enhance the benefits of the Reiki energy that you have received and to aid in the detoxification process as you begin your own personal journey towards wholeness. In taking self-love measures following your attunement (which is designed to bring inner healing and energetic re-alignment), you will be able to effectively pass Reiki onto others.

Benefits of Attunements

Reiki attunements are a key part of the Usui Reiki training process, and they offer numerous benefits to those who receive them. Here are some of the primary benefits of a Reiki attunement:

1. Increased awareness and connection to Universal Life Force Energy: A Reiki attunement opens the energy channels in the body and increases the flow of Universal Life Force Energy, also known as Qi or Prana. This enhances your ability to sense and work with energy, and helps you connect to the world around you.

2. Improved physical and emotional well-being: Reiki attunements can help reduce stress, anxiety, and pain, and promote feelings of relaxation and calm. They can also help boost the immune system and support the body's natural healing processes.

3. Enhanced intuition and spiritual growth: Reiki attunements can help you become more intuitive, sensitive, and aware, allowing you to connect more deeply with your inner self and spiritual guidance. This can lead to a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment in life.

4. Greater capacity for healing: Reiki attunements can increase your ability to channel and direct energy, making you a more effective healer for yourself and others. This can help you support others on their healing journeys and make a positive impact in the world.

5. Deeper connection to the Reiki community: Reiki attunements are often performed in group settings, which can help you connect with other like-minded individuals who share your interest in healing and spiritual growth. This can lead to a sense of belonging and support as you continue your Reiki journey.

Seichim Training

My comprehensive Seichim training program offers a deep dive into this powerful healing modality, equipping you with the knowledge, skills, and techniques to become a proficient Seichim practitioner.

Please note that Reiki level one is a prerequisite for the Seichim training, ensuring that you have a foundational understanding of energy healing principles and a hands-on technique before delving into Seichim practices. Also note that client needs to have a minimum of twenty one days of Reiki experience prior to having a Seichim attunement. It takes about twenty one days for the energy to settle after having an attunement.

During our training session, you will be given a Seichim manual authored by Rev. Karen Jenkins and you'll learn about the origins and principles of Seichim, dive into the symbolism and methodologies, and discover how to create a nurturing environment conducive to healing. We'll also explore the profound effects of Seichim on the aura and its holistic benefits for overall well-being. You will receive a Seichim attunement- which is a sacred ceremony to initiate you to the Seichim energy, and will conduct your first Seichim session.

Seichim training may be taught in one or two sessions, depending on your background, and level of experience in the natural healing arts, and if we collectively feel like we need more time. Upon completion of the training, you'll receive a Seichim attunement via a sacred ceremony. You'll also receive your certificate - either a practitioner level certificate, or practitioner, master, and teacher certification.
